Painted doors can be painted over, but it will be expensive to try to remove paint, to "stain/varnish" previously painted doors. "The decorating rule", is make your home comfortable for yourself. A good suggestion, is to review decorating magazines, look at photo's of rooms similar to rooms in your home. See how colors, stains, and furnishings blend to provide acceptable accents for your living style. My best advise, is pick your style, stick with it, because, remimber, changing can be costly.

There are a lot thing that you can do to get off to the right start.
A website is a must but you need to to know how your clients will search for you on the internet first ( what keywords ). And what type of web site to get ( never flash for search engine ranking ). You can get a good website with good SEO (search engine optimization) for around $500+ depending on what your budget is and how much your budget is. Some will run that much plus $150+ for continuing SEO to dominate search engine terms.

Video is also a great way to promote your business and search engines love them. I would give a discount or something else for a video testimonial from your clients.

Twitter is also a great place to get a good fallowing and promote your business. Don't just promote your business. Make sure to have good content and talk about yourself.

Facebook and myspace are also a must.

Branding is a must! Get a logo and use local listings like google local and yahoo local.

It's a little bland. If you are writing a novel, there is no way your writing style could fill up 100 000 words. You need to be a bit more descriptive when appropriate. Here it's not as the subject is quite boring.
